Amina El Baroudi
Assistant to the Minister of Antiquities for Digital Services

Amina is the Assistant to the Minister of Antiquities for Digital Services. Her work entails finding digital solutions, such as websites, mobile applications, documentation and databases, for challenges facing the ministry.


In the past, she was the Permanent Collections registrar at the Registration, Collections Management and Documentation Department (RCMDD) at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. She had been part of the project since its instigation by the American Research Center in Egypt in 2007. She has also been the Lead Registrar in the “Egypt Documentation Project”, a joint project between the Ministry of Antiquities and the British Museum.


Her fieldwork includes documentation of the temple of Ramesses II in Abydos (NYU-ARCE), project manager for the study and documentation of objects found in the Giza and Atfih storage magazines that were excavated by Ahmed Fakhry at Dahshur (German Archaeological Institute), and excavation work at Deir El Barsha (KU Leuven University). She has also been involved as a digital illustrator in several projects such as the Dahshur excavations (German Archaeological Institute), a project for the study of the Sokar and Nefertum chapels in the Seti I temple at Abydos (University of Cologne and the German Archaeological Institute), and the digitization of the Fatimid cemetery graffiti in Aswan (German Archaeological Institute).

Ben Sullivan
Head of European & Middle Eastern Operations, Axiell ALM

Ben Sullivan is General Manager of EMEA, Axiell Archives Libraries & Museums.

Ben has worked on national museum projects in Australasia, United Kingdom, USA, Qatar, UAE and Egypt.  He has collaborated on worldwide guidelines in museum documentation and digital asset management. He is a regular presenter at museum conferences on the subjects of data management workflows, digital learning & museums, data visualisation, benchmarking and sustainable technology for museums. In Egypt, Ben helped define the core requirements for a central database for all the collections within the Egyptian Museum. This database was a key tool in the identification and reporting of missing objects following the 2011 revolution and looting at the museum.

Ben is currently working with Egypt, Qatar and Abu Dhabi on best practices for information management of cultural data. He is also working with CLIR on an initiative to create a digital public library for the Middle East.
